PharmHouse™ XLS

Ideal for Xenopus laevis , Xenopus tropicalis, bullfrogs, grassfrogs, xenoles, newts, lobsters, sea slugs, goldfish and many other larger species.

There is an ever-growing interest in more sophisticated housing systems; especially for Xenopus and Rana species. Researchers, managers, technicians and caretakers all want to be able to reduce husbandry labor, provide a bio-secure environment, supply better water quality and stay within their budget. The Pharmacal XLS system targets these principles and allows the buyer design flexibility.

XLS Rack & Tank Design Procedure

Based on the species and the buyers housing criterion, tank size and number of tanks are selected.  From this information, the rack(s) will be custom designed and sized. The design will provide a balance between maximizing your animal housing capabilities and available facility space.  Ease of movement throughout the area and comfortable access for cleaning are important considerations. Because we are unique for our custom work, buyers input is welcomed and we are usually able to meet special requirements.

  • Racks

    • Racks are constructed from 304, passivated stainless steel, with all water delivery and drainage plumbing attached. The rack shelves have a patented, 5-degree forward pitch to facilitate flushing. Rack size and number of shelves vary according to the size and number of tanks, as well as, the buyers prerequisites. Both leveling feet and cage washer safe casters are provided.

  • Tanks
    • Tanks are available in an unlimited range of sizes and a variety of colors and materials. All materials are cage washer safe up to 180 degrees. Autoclavable tanks are also available.  Overflow plumbing is attached to the front of each tank.

  • Water Delivery Systems

    • A variety of Pharmacal Water System designs can be utilized with the XLS Housing System. The PRL Aquatics team will help you determined the best choice with respect to species, water source, correction needs, space availability, automation level and budget. For best results with this process, Pharmacal recommends that you have your water source tested for any hazardous impurities in your area.
